The Host Cast BD

You can read our original coverage of the VMan article here.

Perez Hilton and Hollywood Life have both reported on an interview with Max Irons and Jake Abel about the similarities (or rather, lack thereof) between ‘The Host’ and ‘Twilight’. Jake relates to the pressures on actors, showing respect for the ‘Twilight’ actors.

“A lot of people expect us to knock the Twilight cast, but Taylor Lautner is a really nice kid. Robert Pattinson, I couldn’t imagine the tremendous amount of pressure he was under — and he earned my respect when I saw him fight for certain projects. Water For Elephants is a great novel, the movie is what it was. That’s not his fault. That’s the risk; we’re the face of projects.”

And then Max comments on how people are comparing Stephenie’s two current book series.

“It is a very lazy comparison, because Twilight was a phenomenon unto itself. [Robert] Pattinson was chased down the streets of Paris before the films even came out. And he is doing well for himself. He has about five films with acclaimed directors lined up.”

Hmm. Lazy, huh? Well, I would probably agree with you there, Max! It’s easy to compare Stephenie’s projects to one another, and maybe you can focus on the love triangle (or ‘love box’, as Jake has coined), but for anyone who knows the book, the comparisons really stop there. If I was going to make comparisons to anything, it would probably be with other books in the science fiction genre.
