New Trailer/Poster for Chandler Canterbury’s “A Bag of Hammers”

Yesterday, the new trailer and poster for A Bag of Hammers came online.  There was already a trailer and poster for the film at the time of its world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival in 2011, but it is now getting closer to the film actually moving into theatres.  The young man who is the subject of much of the film is Chandler Canterbury.  Jason Ritter, Rebecca Hall, Carrie Preston, and Jake Sandvig also star in the film.  Why is this relevant?  Chandler plays Jamie Stryder in The Host.  He is an exceptional young actor.   A Bag of Hammers is a very good film.  You can read my review from SXSW here.

A Bag of Hammers is in theatres May 11, 2012.

    He doesn’t look 13/14.

That’s because the movie was filmed in 2010.

Actually, it filmed in the fall of 2009.  Not sure why it took so long to come out, but he does look young in it.  I think he was 10 at the time.  Here is the most recent picture that I could find from imdb.

My heart broke when he said “No one has ever wanted me before!” and “Can I stay?” I have a feeling this kid is going to make me cry during The Host movie.

The one thing I didn’t like about the book was Jamie’s age, it was wrong. I was his age when I first read the book and he was acting so young for his age it was unreal. I understand that it was supposed to upset Wanda and Mel that they’d missed a chunk of his childhood and it was clear he was growing up – so that was clear in appearance. But his behaviour was all wrong, a boy that age wouldn’t be cuddly and holding hands and bouncing around like a child. They’ve made this mistake again, except this time I think it is with appearance too. I can’t judge with the behaviour yet..
